As mild as this winter has been so far (long may it continue) there is no doubt that the temperatures have now begun to drop. Layering up is always a key feature of winter fashion and a great way to merge styles.
Selecting a winter coat or jacket is never an easy one with a raft of styles and materials to pick from. Burton have provided a helping hand for AW14 with their Origins of Outerwear campaign that takes 5 key styles of men’s outerwear and looks at the story behind each and the best ways to wear them.
The 5 styles featured in the Burton ‘Origins of Outerwear’ campaign are the Chesterfield, the Mac, the Pea Coat, the Bomber and finally the Parka. I was tasked by Burton to select one of the jackets and to style it up with a selection of clothing from their winter menswear range.
As much as I love the smart styles like a classic mac or pea coats I think the signature style of winter coat for The Everyday Man has to be the parka. The style is casual yet can be styled up and looks just as good when thrown over a suit for example.
I started with the tobacco coloured parka that benefits from cosy borg lining and furry hood and teamed it with the classic white oxford shirt, the blood red sweater and some blue Jack Jones Premium jeans.
