24 hours in Vienna with Neubau Eyewear

Who better to show me around the arty neighbourhood of Neubau in Vienna than the team behind the eco-conscious glasses brand which shares its name. Last month I took up an invitation to join a group of influencers from across Europe on a launch event for the new eyewear collection.

The neighbourhood of Neubau is the 7th district of Vienna and was described as the cities Shoreditch (albeit on a much smaller scale). While some similarities do exist, the district is nowhere near as gentrified (yet) as the popular area of London and maintains a sense of real charm.

Neubau is home to art galleries, street art (I spotted a few of Invaders signature mosaics, which are a particular favourite of mine) and independent shops a plenty, which makes it the perfect, place for a stroll if you’re visiting the city.

My whirlwind 24-hour trip commenced with a guided walking tour of the area taking in some shops and places in the Neubau district that had a focus on sustainability. We stopped at a coffee shop built of an ethos of upcycling, a community garden project (right in the middle a busy street) and a vegan ice-cream parlour. I think it helped that the sun was shining but I really felt at home wandering around.

In the evening I finally got a look at the new Neubau collection of glasses. The frames have been constructed from an eco-friendly polymer, which makes the glasses really lightweight, flexible and of course sustainable.

There’s a style to suit any face shape or preference and although the frames are classed as unisex some of the styles are obviously more suited to guys than others (I really liked the Toni sunglasses) and are available in prescription or without.

As the sun set on my day in Vienna, staring out across the city from the rooftop bar of the 25hours hotel I realised I had so much for to see here. I’ll definitely be back soon.
