A healthy breakfast that you can make in the microwave

Think microwave meal and the first thing that springs to mind is most likely a boxed up generally not very appealing salt full ready meal from the local supermarket.   As handy as these little pre-pared meals may be when you are living a hectic lifestyle they are not entirely ideal when trying to maintain a healthy and balanced diet.  Thankfully with a little more effort (but not much) it does not have to be like this.

As an ambassador for Samsung Home Appliances I was recently given a sneak peek at their new MW8000J HotBlast Smart Oven so thought that this was the perfect time to share with you some of my favourite microwave quick-fix breakfast meals.   The new technology in the HotBlast Smart Oven reduced cooking times but up to 50% without sacrificing the taste of your food.  They have also managed to squeeze in a pretty impressive Grande Table despite the compact size, which lets users cook on a much larger scale.  Even a family-sized pizza if it happens to be cheat day!

My go to morning breakfast is a bowl of porridge and it is super easy to make in the microwave.  I cheat and use the big bowl sachets (unflavoured) for ease and avoidance of faffing around measuring out milk etc as the sachet doubles up as a milk measure.  It is down to personal choice but as I avoid dairy I go for unsweetened almond milk, which took a bit of getting used to, but I have grown to love the taste.  A couple of minutes later and with a drizzle of honey a handful of blueberries and a chopped banana and I am good to go. Filling, tasty and healthy!

Sometimes at the weekend, I fancy a bit of a change and without going full out with a greasy fry-up I pull out the turkey bacon.  The MW8000J HotBlast Smart Oven comes equipped with a 2250w PowerGrill Duo, which allows for quick and even grilling.  Place the rashers on a microwave-safe plate and grill for a couple of minutes until your desired level of crispiness is achieved.  To serve I go for a lightly buttered toasted wholemeal bagel. Mmmm bacon!
