A look at men’s spring Tailoring

Without Prejeduce SS14 Mens

Spring has arrived and along with it comes a change in the weather.  Although still fairly unsettled (depending on where you happen to be in the country), there is undoubtably more sunshine around and slightly higher temperatures.  One challenge brought by Spring is dressing for the temperature.  Mornings can still be chilly and often frosty but the afternoon on the other hand warm with temperatures often sitting in the high teens.  Layering is of course a very intelligent option to ensure you look dressed for the weather throughout the day.

In tailoring we see a shift from the dark colours of winter into more soft subtle shades of greys, blues and perhaps even light browns or pinks.  The warmer months also bring a sharp uprise in the number of weddings and other outdoor events – for those dates in particular this year we will see a lot of short suits for men from brands like Selected homme.

Double breasted blazers, many in  a Prince of Wales check also play an important role in tailoring for men this Spring with many of the premium and high street fashion labels including these styles in their collections.  The traditionally styled Prince of Wales jacket by Alfred Dunhill (shown below) is a particular spring highlight of mine.  Teamed with a small touch of colour this creates a strong masculine look.

Ties are not always essential as your tailored look can be mixed up with some light fitted knit wear or simply a shirt depending on the occasion and weather.  Tommy Hilfiger have put together a collection that merges the relaxed style of the Hampton’s with the more refined leisure look of the south of France.  No matter what your preference is you have plenty of options and looks to build your own perfect spring tailored look.
