The Friday Five: Men’s Anti Ageing Products

Tom Ford Skin care

Newsflash: Old age is coming to us all. Whether you are 20, 30 or a little more mature in age it is never too early to start protecting your skin and ensuring you maintain your looks as you mature.  Aside from going under the knife or needle there are of course a multitude of products on the market which promise to reverse or slow down the effects of ageing on your skin but how good are they?

Of course above all things your skin needs hydration, rest and protection from the sun but there are some things you can slap on to help it out too. I’ve  been trying a few of these products over the months and have picked out my top 5 to share with you…

Kiehls Daily Reviving Concentrate

This product is very similar in nature to the best-selling Kiehls product, their Midnight Recovery Oil.  The difference this time around is that instead of the calming lavender scent the smell is a fresher and not as strong.

When I first started using this oil a few months ago I was unsure about it as I thought it was making my skin oily.  The trick is to stick it out until your skin adapts as it has now become a solid part of my daily skincare routine and leaves my skin feeling great.  Not overly shiny or oily either.

Menage Anti-Ageing Moisturiser SPF15

When selecting a daily moisturiser it is essential that you use one with a SPF built-in.  It is the foundation to anti-ageing.  This one form Menage is a good start as it has been developed just for men and is infused with the brand’s powerful Copper PCA antioxidant.

The thing it liked most about it is that is has a matte finish so your skin won’t have that shine that you get from unisex products normally.  At £14 it is not too pricey as far as moisturisers go either.

The Body Shop Drops of Youth Bouncy Sleeping Mask

I am partial to a face mask once a week or so but had never tried a sleep in mask until this little fellow came along from The Body Shop.  The mask is enriched with Edelweiss stem cells which help your skin replenish as you sleep, promoting bouncier looking skin in the morning.  After the first nights use I woke to fresh feeling skin.  Great for a pick me up towards the end of the week or for continued use too.

Whilst this range is not made for men the packaging is clean and masculine too so it looks good on the bathroom shelf.

Tom Ford Anti-Fatigue Eye Treatment

The Tom Ford men’s skincare and grooming line is small but covers all of the bases. Mr Ford believes that eye treatment is not a luxury but an essential and an area that all guys should be paying attention. It’s the first place people look when they meet you after all!

The anti-fatigue eye treatment has been developed to lift and firm the look of the skin around your eyes whilst helping to get rid of the fine lines and wrinkles.  The silver applicator tip (whilst looking cool) also helps to cool down the skin which eliminates puffiness.  I could genuinely feel the product working as soon as I applied it but found the effects to be more temporary.  It is great though to give you a boost for a night out or big meeting.

RRP £55

Cult 51 Night Cream

If you feel like splashing some serious cash on a night cream then this is the one to go for. Cult 51 Night Cream aims to address EVERY skin requirement in one swoop.  It is all a bit sciency but it works in collaboration with your skin’s own metabolism encouraging cells to recover and act the way they would had they been a bit younger.

I have long since ran out of this product but loved it while it lasted and really noticed my skin getting firmer and in general much healthier looking.  The product has proven so popular it regularly sells out online and at the big stores so it may take a bit of work to track a tub down.
