Fred again… kicked off his highly anticipated 10 Cities Tour with a night that felt equal parts euphoric and unpredictable at Glasgow’s SEC on Friday 3rd October. Joined by Haai and Yonsuke Yukimatsu, the London producer held the room from 8pm until 1am, moving seamlessly between solo sets and electrifying back-to-backs with both guest DJs.
The 10,000-strong crowd were immediately swept up in a set that spanned all of Fred’s hits, while also dropping some very unexpected tracks from artists like Kylie Minogue. Every moment left the crowd wondering just where he would go next, the anticipation crackling through the venue.
The production was a show in itself. Fred revealed his team had been working on it for over a year and had teamed up with Boris Acket on a floating art installation that covered the venue’s ceiling. The effect was cinematic and immersive, adding a sense of drama that matched the music perfectly.
Towards the end of the night, Fred paid a heartfelt tribute to Glasgow, weaving Paolo Nutini’s Through the Echoes into the mix, a moment that had the whole room singing along. The finale saw him joined by vocalist Blanco, turning the last moments into a euphoric peak that had the crowd buzzing long after the last beat.
This Glasgow show was the only UK date on the 10 consecutive Fridays tour, with each city only revealed a week in advance, adding a sense of immediacy and exclusivity to the whole run. The tour also acts as a prelude to Fred’s upcoming album USB002, expected this December, with a new track previewed on his Instagram each week ahead of the next show.
Next stop is Brussels on Friday 10th October, but for anyone at SEC Glasgow, the opening night set a high bar for what is to come.
