G-Star RAW Present the RAW Atelier Denim

We all have a favourite pair of jeans and spend hours wearing them.  They become like a second skin, go everywhere with us and often give us a little confidence boost.  What if you could make your favourite jeans even better though?  What if you could have a say in the design process and have a pair altered to your own individual taste.  Well thanks to the new RAW Atelier service from G-Star RAW this is now a possibility.

Last week I was invited into the G-Star RAW store on Argyle Street, Glasgow to have butchers at the service for myself and try on some of the new styles for Autumn/Winter.  You may have noticed of late through G-Star’s advertising campaigns that change is afoot with the brand.  Out are the logo happy printed designs and in are well made and well-designed classics – music to my ears.

I met with Lee who was decked out in his G-Star tailor attire as he guided me through the RAW Atelier process on offer in Glasgow.  It all starts with a naked pair of 5 pocket G-Star 3301 Red Listing jeans.  After you find your perfect size and are happy with the length (they all come in long length and are altered to your specifications) the real fun begins.

As Lee opens the various wooden drawers within the Atelier chest I get a peek at the options as they shine away like treasure.  It becomes clear that this will be a tough decision.  The choice of rivets, buttons, tabs and leather label are all yours to make.  There is even a personalised label on the inside with a number and date.  Once you decide on your styling options, the jeans are sent off to the G-Star tailor to be hand finished.

The RAW Atelier service costs £190 which may seem a tad steep but for a personalised pair of jeans, hand-finished by the G Star tailor it really isn’t.  For further details pop into G Star RAW, Argyle Street, Glasgow or Braehead Shopping Centre.
