House of Gods Hotel Edinburgh Review

If you fancy a little overnight escape (and boy couldn’t we all do with one right now) then look no further than House of Gods in Edinburgh.

From the street, House of Gods is fairly unassuming. There’s a bold red neon light above the door but aside from that, the exterior does not give much away. I liked it that way though, as the wow factor really hits you from the second you walk through the door. You’re no longer in Edinburgh’s old town, you’re somewhere else entirely, somewhere, decadent, sexy and quite unique!

You walk into the hotel via the cocktail bar and your eyes are instantly drawn to the amazing decor. The bold Gucci printed wallpaper, a huge oversize disco ball and plenty of cosy corners to enjoy one of their delicious drinks.

I instantly felt a real warmth at House of Gods. Every staff member that I encountered was helpful, friendly and most importantly genuine. It really felt a world away from what is currently going on.

House of Gods is a small hotel with just over 20 rooms so they are really able to offer a personal touch. In fact, they have a WhatsApp system in operation to make it easy to communicate with the front desk from your room. I’ll admit that I was initially a little apprehensive about using it but before long I was merrily exchanging funny gifs and messages as I ordered a few items of room service.

The rooms are compact at best but I did not mind one bit as everything had been designed and thought of perfectly from the TV hidden behind the mirror to the magic buttons to let reception know that you’d like a prosecco top-up or breakfast delivered.

If you want to make your stay that little bit more special then they have some fantastic package deals available that will really elevate your time there. At present they are offering guests the chance to try their ‘Lock Me Up Like I’m Famous’ package that comes with unlimited prosecco, luxury chocolates, an in-room pizza, four-course cocktail journey, midnight snacks, breakfast hamper and morning mimosas for the special price of £119. It’s incredibly good value for money and helped to make our stay unforgettable.

Edinburgh is a fairly small city so it doesn’t really matter where you stay as all of the places that you’ll want to see are only a short walk away. That being said, the area around House of Gods is particularly appealing. Edinburgh Castle, the Royal Mile, the Scottish Parliament and the University are all very close by. It’s my bet that once you check-in to the hotel, you’ll not want to leave though, so I wouldn’t go piling too much onto your to-do list.
