Last week I had the pleasure of attending the New York Times International Luxury Conference in the very swish setting of Versailles, France to witness the unveiling of their very latest product HP Spectre, the world’s thinnest laptop.
The HP Spectre is an astonishingly good-looking and extremely advanced piece of technology which is built with a CNC machined aluminum chassis which is as thin as an AAA-battery. That’s just 10.4mm thick. This has no impact on performance though because it contains the powerful Intel® CoreTM i5 and i7 processors which deliver superior performance when put up against the predecessors. The most exciting feature for me is the edge to edge display and inclusion of Bang & Olufsen sound system. Not to shabby!!
As if the new HP Spectre was not news enough the California-based company also took the wraps off 2 brand new limited edition versions which have been crafted in partnership with the designers Tord Boontje and Jess Hannah. These versions take the term luxury to the very next level using 18K gold, diamonds and Swarovski crystals on the casing. These ultimate status symbols will be auctioned off at Cannes in aid of the Nelson Mandela Foundation so if you fancy one that you best get saving your pounds!
The ‘standard’ Spectre model if you can call it that though us beauty enough for me. I managed to grab one during the conference (for a short time) and was instantly impressed with the laptops design. It looks and feels like a premium and durable product from the moment you pick it up. The colour too which is a high polished copper finish glistened almost like a jewel in the French sunshine. I’m currently an Apple user myself but have been seriously temped to jump ship by this new release.
