Mercedes-Benz just dropped a serious flex for off-road purists and collectors alike — the G-Class Edition ‘Stronger Than The 1980s’. This ultra-limited release throws it back to the original W460 G-Wagen era with a nostalgic twist, blending old-school design cues with next-gen tech. Only 460 units are being made worldwide, making it a future classic before it even hits the streets.
The throwback vibes come heavy with two heritage colourways — MANUFAKTUR Agave Green and Colorado Beige — lifted straight from the ’80s playbook. From orange indicators to the old-school badging, matte black accents, and 5-spoke alloys, every detail is crafted to channel the rugged energy of the original icon. Even the spare wheel cover gets a vintage makeover.
Inside, it’s all about retro meets refined. Dove grey fabric inserts on black leather seats, “Stronger Than The 1980s” branding, and a badge that pays homage to the legendary Schöckl mountain test track bring the history, while a Burmester 3D surround system, Nappa leather steering wheel, and glass sunroof keep things luxe. Each ride is stamped with a “1 of 460” tag on the centre console — a nod to its collectability.
Under the hood, you can spec it as a G 450 d or a G 500, depending on how hard you want to go. Prices start at £152,815 OTR, and it’s available to order now.
