My look: Life is a Beautiful Sport

Summer seems to be running away from us and I realised that I have yet to post many summer looks on here.  So last week when the sun made a pretty rare appearance I headed out to make the most of it.

Wimbledon may be a distance memory now but I did grab some inspiration from the tennis event for my outfit.  When I think about Tennis I think of only one brand and that is Lacoste.  Those crisp white polo shirts, tailored bottoms and sports shoes have that great appeal as they can be worn casually or added into a slightly smarter look without ever looking out-of-place.

It made more sense then when I discovered the Lacoste manifesto was ‘Life is a beautiful sport’ which makes a lot of sense to me and echoes the seamless blend of performance and elegance  that they embody to the everyday.  It all harks back to the infamous day when René first adorned his match blazer with the iconic imposing embroidered crocodile.  The pieces I have seen from the AW15 collection maintain the dedication to honoring the brands roots while looking ahead to the future with new high quality materials and detailing.  It works really well.

Anyway I am blabbering…back to my look.  I found these off white Lacoste Straightset trainers on Schuh and loved the understated styling.  They were obviously Lacoste but the logo instead of stitched was subtly embossed on the side.  You can see the tennis inspiration on the design but the finish and the really soft sophisticated leather in particular is a lot more fashion.  I’d happily wear these with a dark coloured suit, but in this occasion opted for a pair of slim fitting turn-up trousers rom Next. The cut and fit look a lot more premium than what I would expect from the high street, a really great buy.

To top the look off I teamed it with a simple but cool play x comme des garcons white polo shirt from Hervia with a black their iconic googly eyes heart logo.  Pretty simple in nature but elegant and sporty hence it fits the ‘Life is a beautiful sport’ philosophy.  Or I least I think it does anyway.
