A Seaside Getaway at the Doubletree by Hilton Brighton Metropole

It had been too long since I last soaked up the coastal charm of Brighton. After a series of weekends in London, I decided to chase away those post-summer blues with an overnight stay by the seaside.

The Doubletree by Hilton Brighton Metropole, one of the city’s oldest and grandest properties along the seafront, recently underwent a multi-million-pound refurbishment. This historic hotel now perfectly embodies the modern and quirky vibe of Brighton, providing an ideal base for those seeking both relaxation and adventure.

Arrival and Welcome

Upon arriving at this sizable and bustling hotel, I was greeted by a busy check-in area. However, the attentive staff efficiently managed the queue, a hallmark of Doubletree’s commitment to guest satisfaction. As a delightful bonus, they handed out their famous warm Doubletree cookies – absolutely delicious and worth the wait. The familiar signature scent that greets guests upon entering the foyer is a comforting reminder of the quality service the brand offers.

Elegance in Every Room

The Doubletree by Hilton Brighton Metropole has revamped all its guest rooms, a welcome update that was long overdue. The result is a collection of bright, modern rooms tastefully decorated with plush furnishings and state-of-the-art amenities. What sets them apart is the captivating view each room offers, whether of the city or the serene sea, adding a touch of magic to your stay.

I had the pleasure of staying in a balcony king room, providing me with a spectacular view of the beach and the vast sea beyond. The room was spacious and boasted an exceptionally comfortable bed with a view that looked out toward the beach. I couldn’t have asked for a better spot to enjoy my in-room breakfast by the open balcony doors.

My only minor complaint, and it appears to be a common issue across Hilton properties, is the inability to cast from your phone to the in-room TV. Moreover, there’s no Bluetooth speaker, which would have been handy for streaming music from my phone.

Location, Location, Location

The Doubletree by Hilton Brighton Metropole has nailed its location. A 10-minute downhill walk from Brighton station, nestled on the lively Brighton seafront, the hotel is within easy reach of the city’s main attractions. These include the iconic Brighton Pier, the i360, the Brighton Museum and Art Gallery, and the unique shops and restaurants of The Lanes.

Dog-Friendly

In line with the trend across Hilton properties, the Doubletree by Hilton Brighton Metropole welcomes dogs for an additional fee to support enhanced cleaning. However, a minor drawback is that dogs are not allowed in the bar or restaurants. If you plan to dine at the on-site bar-restaurant, you’ll need to opt for the terrace, which, weather permitting, is a pleasant choice. Brighton boasts plenty of dog-friendly bars and restaurants, so you won’t be short of options. An odd exception to this pet-friendly approach is the pier, where dogs are strangely not allowed.

Leisure Facilities

While I regrettably didn’t have the time to enjoy the hotel’s leisure facilities, the Doubletree by Hilton Brighton Metropole offers a fully equipped gym and a pool for guests to use during their stay.

In conclusion, if you’re seeking a seaside escape with the convenience of staying in the heart of Brighton, the Doubletree by Hilton Brighton Metropole is an excellent choice. With its recent refurbishment, comfortable rooms, and proximity to all that Brighton has to offer, it’s a delightful place to unwind and immerse yourself in the vibrant spirit of this coastal gem.
