Test driving the new 2021 Seat Ibiza

As one of the first cars I ever owned, the Seat Ibiza has also had a bit of a special place in my heart, so when given the chance to check out the refreshed 2021 model I was keen to see what had changed.

Despite being 37 years old, the Seat Ibiza has been through a series of tweaks and redesigns to ensure that it maintains a youthful and fun vibe. The latest connected technology, driver assist systems as well as a refreshed exterior and interior has kept the Ibiza fresh and relevant.

Most notably on the exterior, the Ibiza badge is now embossed in handwritten style lettering which I think looks fantastic. LED lighting technology now comes as standard across the range too.

On the inside, the Ibiza features an improved tech offering and a higher quality finish across the surfaces. The new floating central infotainment system display is the heartbeat of the new Ibiza. The screen’s size has increased and its position has been adjusted to make for safer operation.

The dash is more in keeping with those inside the larger cars in the Seat family like the Leon and Arona. For me, the Ibiza looks best in the FR trim, especially on the interior as the red and black details just work perfectly around the instruments and upholstery.

On the drive, the Ibiza does what it says on the tin and for the price, it’s a solid contender in the supermini category. It isn’t going to turn heads but I’m a city dweller myself and I’d have no qualms having an Ibiza (again) for getting around from day to day. It ticks my boxes in terms of style, comfort and the tech offering. What more do you need?

The new Seat Ibiza is available now priced from £16,790.
