Taking up home in a magnificent neo-classical building that was the former global headquarters of RBS, The Edinburgh Grand is, in my opinion the new jewel in Edinburgh’s hospitality crown. Consisting of 50 individually designed apartments, this property is beautifully understated. Last week I had the opportunity to stay in one of their one-bedroom grand apartments for the evening and there was not much that I didn’t love about the place. It’s luxurious, cosy and homely at the same time, really quite different to the usual luxury hotel offering in the city.
Location wise, you can’t get much better than The Edinburgh Grand either, it’s only a 3-minute walk from the train station and the tram goes right past the front door of the property which makes getting around the city easy. Edinburgh is in fact a very compact city, so I’d recommend heading off to explore on foot as you seen much more that way.
If you’re staying over and fancy heading out for a spot of food, then there’s no need to venture very far as there is a Hawksmoor steakhouse located on the ground floor (entrance is just to the side of the reception). If you’ve not been to a Hawksmoor before then you really are missing out and you should check it out, even if you’re not staying at the Grand. Get the lobster to start and make sure you enjoy a steak for your main. Delicious!
I’m honestly struggling to find a bad thing to say about to say The Edinburgh Grand, it’s a lovely place and in a great location. If you’re visiting Edinburgh then it should be at the top of your list of places to stay.
