The Friday Five: Men’s Swim Shorts Brands

With summer just about in sight the Friday Five focus this week turns to every guys holiday staple, a decent pair of swimming shorts.  Leave the banana hammocks at home and instead opt for a well fitted pair of shorts that will show off that beach body you have been working towards all winter (if only) best.

We have tracked down the 5 best swimwear brands for summer 2015, with something to suit most tastes…

Oiler & Boiler

Oiler & Boiler take their inspiration from the beaches of the Hamptons with original hand-drawn prints and vibrant colours.  Depending on how brave you are or how much leg you want to flash, they offer styles from the Tuckernuck Classic (longer) to the Shortie.

Orlebar Brown

Probably the best fitting swim shorts you will ever wear, however, that comes at a price.  Orlebar Brown takes a far more tailored approach to swimwear, created a smart pair of shorts that you can also swim in.  A great option as you can go from pool to restaurant without having to change.

This summer they have teamed up with Pucci for a range of printed shorts but I recommend sticking to a classic colour block pair like a navy that will never go out of style.

Make Your Odyssey

Another new premium swimwear brand that I recently discovered is Make Your Odyssey.  Their 2 styles are ‘The Lido ‘which have been developed with style and comfort in mind. Retaining a fitted silhouette whilst employing a relaxed elasticated waistband finish for extra comfort. ‘The Dive’ on the other hand take influence from the design of wetsuits, offering a more structured, body con swimming short, creating a sleek and stylish silhouette.

David Gandy Swimwear

We covered the news last week that M&S was launching a new swimwear range designed by their poster boy David Gandy.   The David Gandy swimwear collection which joins his existing men’s loungewear range at M&S will launch in June and be available in navy blue, light blue, cobalt blue, marine, orange, red and black.  A tailored fit is ensured with sizes ranges from 28 to 40-inch waist.

Le Slip Francais x Aigle

Another swimwear collaboration this summer sees the 2 French brands come together with a small capsule collection.  Central to the LSP x Aigle range is a rather nice pair of blue stripe shorts.  The collection also includes a pair of wellies which is quite handy should the British summer play out as usual.
