Wandering Glasgow with Paulin Watches

At the end of last year, I spent a morning with the lovely Jess from Paulin watches wandering around some of my favourite spots in Glasgow, and discovering new ones too.  Paulin watches, in case you are not familiar with the brand design and built a lovely collection of timepieces for both men and women (check out their Commuter C watch, it’s my favourite) in the heart of Glasgow’s Merchant City.

To start our day off we headed for breakfast in Finnieston, a buzzing neighbourhood in the west end of the city that was recently awarded the title of ‘the coolest place to live in the UK’.  The re-birth of this area really kicked off a few years back and ‘the strip’ or Argyle Street is now lined with fancy restaurants, bars, barbershops and cool little shops.  If you visit or live in Glasgow it’s definitely worth popping along for food at least at one of the many restaurants – Porter & Rye Porter & Rye is my favourite.

From Finnieston we took a walk down the ‘Hidden Lane’ then through Kelvingrove Park and onto the Kelvingrove Art Gallery, one of Glasgow’s finest buildings and a great place to explore (entry is free too).  Inside you can discover a whole host of artworks and pieces of historical importance to the city of Glasgow but it is the building itself that I enjoy most, it’s a real beauty.

The west end is also home to a great selection of independent shops stocking everything from designer menswear to homewares and wholefoods but, after all that wandering we had worked up an appetite to stop off at Tantrum Doughnuts to refuel.  I had seen this tiny little doughnut shop pop up on my Instagram feed loads but this was the first time I had tried them.  It definitely won’t be the last!

Check out the Paulin collection here.
