We Love: 3 brand new Scotch Whisky’s worth trying

BLADNOCH-VINAYA-14

It’s an exciting time to be a fan of Scotch Whisky. Not only do you have an almost endless list of classics to try, but the distilleries and blenders also seem to be coming up with more and more special editions and new releases all the time.

As a huge whisky fan myself, I thought that for the latest installment of We Love, I’d highlight a few new whisky releases that I’ve tried and enjoyed this month.

Bladnoch Vinaya

Bladnoch are a new distillery to me in all honesty so I didn’t really know what to expect from their Vinyaya Single Malt, their largest release for 6 years.

The name translates to ‘respect and gratitude’ and that was thought to be a fitting tribute to the founders of the original Bladnoch distillery.

The colour is light and golden and the whisky was lovely over a cube of ice. If like me you enjoy a slightly sweeter, light and somewhat fresh-tasting whisky, this is definitely one for you to try.

Haig Club Mediterranean Orange

I’m sure a lot of traditionalists will be turning their noses up at this next one, but to them I say your loss! Haig Club Clubman has had a makeover for summer and the new release comes infused with the flavour of tasty mediterranean orange.

The taste is distinctive for sure with its blend of fresh and juicy marmalade orange flavours, the liquid is infused with orange blossom extract and the signature scotch whisky notes of Haig Club Clubman.

This one is the perfect long summer drink for both whisky fans and whisky virgins! Serve it with Fevertree lemonade and a wedge of orange and you’re jamming!

White Heather 21 Year Old

Lastly, I’m featuring the White Heather 21-Year-Old blend and with only 2,000 bottles of this available, it’s going perhalps a touch more special.

White Heather is a rare and exclusive small-batch blend from the Glenallachie Distillers Co. up in Speyside. The master blender, Billy Walker expertly crafted a unique recipe with an unusually high single malt content, including vintage GlenAllachie to create this very special blend.

It’s a little smokier than I normally like myself but the sweet notes of honey and butterscotch were just enough to balance that out for a very well-rounded, rich finish.

The perfect whisky to round-off a special occasion or a great evening with friends.
