When it comes to burgers, we would consider ourselves to be pretty clued up on what’s what… We’ve had our fair share of beef from restaurants and burger bars all over, so we’re always looking for the next contender! We were in a Liverpool this past week and had heard a lot about Almost famous, so understandably, we had to give it a go.
Located on Parr Street, parallel to some of the cities more lively streets, Almost Famous provides diners with an arty, boozey and most importantly meaty experience. The menu mainly consists of some pretty creative burgers loaded with some slightly unusual, yet tasty fillings. In typical American tradition, the fries can be covered with a variety of mouth-watering toppings. As a big Fan of all things BBQ, I decided that the best fit for me was the River Phoenix. A double cheeseburger smothered in BBQ sauce, fried onions, bacon and frazzles (that’s right… Frazzles). I chose the fries that were soaked with hot cheese and chilli beef. I have to admit that I was slightly apprehensive with what I had picked but was more than happy with what was brought to the table! The burger both looked and smelt amazing and the fries were a visual feast. The meat was cooked to perfection and the combination of the onions, bacon and sauces provided both a great taste and texture.
Almost famous has a great bar area surrounded by some quirky pieces of art scattered all over the walls. There was a great mix of music playing throughout the night and the staff were all pleasant. I can definitely see myself venturing back at some point, if only to try one of their booze filled milkshakes! If you fancy trying it yourself, make sure you get there early as they don’t take bookings and it fills up pretty quickly. If you’re looking for burgers with character, then this is certainly up your street.
