Brunch at Gleneagles Hotel

There are brunches, and then there’s the recently launched monthly brunch at Gleneagles Hotel. The brunch takes place on the first Sunday of the month from 12:30 pm until 3:30 pm in the Birnam Brasseri, the latest eatery to open at the luxurious Perthshire hotel following a recent multi-million-pound refurbishment.

If you haven’t been to Gleneagles for a while, now is the time to visit. The place looks better than ever before, and all the old favorites (including the guest rooms) have been given a spruce-up. The Birnam Brasserie, one of the hotel’s new additions, works particularly well, especially as a brunch venue. It’s large, light, and airy, with a real buzz about it. We sat in the winter garden, and I’d highly recommend it. It’s in a separate room from the self-serve cold bar area, so it’s a little more relaxed, but at the same time, it ensures it’s not too much of a stretch to have your Bloody Mary topped up.

After you’ve indulged in starters from the cold buffet (featuring the freshest seafood, cheese, and charcuterie board), you get to choose a course from the menu as your main. I opted for the classic steak and pommes frites, but there are plenty of choices, including some delicious dishes like moules marinière, cajun blackened swordfish, or truffle mac ‘n’ cheese.

While you let that settle, you can enjoy a couple more drinks to the soundtrack of chilled tunes played by the house DJ. Then, once you feel that you have the space, you can finish things off with a selection of desserts from the very colorful and tempting cake tray or opt for a selection of their homemade ice creams.

As far as price goes, it’s £37 each for the food-only option or £65 with the drinks package (which includes wine and brunch cocktails), and I’d say it’s pretty good value when you consider the spread. It might not be an option for every month, but as a little treat to yourself or to celebrate a special occasion, this place is perfect.

Brunch at Gleneagles is a relaxed yet decadent affair in a beautiful setting. I can’t wait to experience it all over again soon.

  1. Wow! Looks like an incredible spread of food, and a lovely setting for a brunch! I love the faun coat and crisp white button up shirt – two pieces that are wardrobe staples! I think it’s always worth taking the time to find quality items like this that go with everything. My other two favourite wardrobe items is a leather belt and leather boots.
