I am not sure if there is a potentially more impressive bill of superstar DJ’s than Calvin Harris & Tiesto. The Greater Than Tour saw the pair set off on a pre-Christmas trip round the UK playing gigs in 5 cities. You only have to look at the warm up artists of Pete Tong and GTA to realise that this was going to be a big deal.
We headed along to the rather impressive Hydro arena in Glasgow this past Sunday to take in the first of 2 dates in the city. Once inside the venue it was easy to forget about the wild December night it was outside and fall under the spell of the infectious house music beats. It felt like summer.
There was no doubt that the majority of the capacity crowd were there to see Calvin Harris and he did not disappoint dropping his hits as well as a few other crowd-pleasing tracks like Lana Del Ray’s hit Summertime Sadness. This was as much a visual spectacle as a DJ set with confetti cannons, laser lights and massive pyrotechnics being used throughout.
Tiesto then took over the decks and the night turned all the more hardcore, with some of the crowd heading for the exit, it was clear to see that Calvin Harris was the big draw for most of the revellers.
