Believe it or not the chap in the picture above is not actually me. It is a mini 3D model of me that was recently created by British Airways to celebrate their campaign. Last Call is a great new service that makes getting away at the last-minute a thing of ease with a host of flight & hotel deals to locations worldwide available to book through a special mini site.
To demonstrate the service in operation BA decided to mould me into a 10inch ‘mini me’ using the awesome 3D printing technology and send it off on a Last Call trip of my own. Like you I have been hearing lots of buzz around 3D printing over the past few months and the endless opportunities that it provides. Seeing how this works in real-time and the detail to which they are able to transfer onto the model really was an eye opener though.
In total 7 bloggers were shrunk down for the project which saw their alter egos visiting the likes of Istanbul & North Carolina. My model however enjoyed a few days in Barcelona, which just so happens to be one of my favourite European cities. Before he set off I gave him a list of must see sites in the Catalan city including the Sagrada Familia and the football stadium. I think he just about managed to take them all in…
I absolutely love this post. 3D printing is bloody brilliant. I now want a mini me!
