Legendary Gulf Clothing

Steve McQueen

In 1966 Gulf Oil began what was perhaps, the most successful commercial partnership there has ever been in endurance racing. The Gulf Ford GT40 racing car won the 24 Hours of Le Mans race in 1968 and then again in 1969. A truly golden age of car racing. The iconic light blue and orange colour scheme used on the Ford GT40 and Porsche 917 became instantly recognisable as Gulf racing. Pedro Rodriguez and Jo Siffert broke records everywhere they raced the Gulf Porsche 917 cars. Their Le Mans, Daytona and the Nurburgring exploits became legendary.

The Steve McQueen film ‘Le Mans’ further cemented the Gulf Porsche 917 as an unforgettable racing car. Gulf went on to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans again in 1975 and in 1994 with a Kremer Porsche K8.

The Gulf clothing and accessories range reflects the brands rich racing heritage, and of course, features the iconic orange and light blue colours. The range is designed by a top European fashion house. Gulf clothing features the distinctive Gulf logo and includes everything from classic vintage team jackets to stylish t-shirts and weekend bags.

We have picked some of our favourite pieces from the range to share with you:

The Gulf arrow t-shirt is a modern twist on a classic Gulf t-shirt. The inspiration behind this stylish t-shirt is the Gulf logo and features the original logo and the Granprix Originals logo.  The Everyday Man loves to do a bit of travelling and the sturdy grey asphalt bag from Gulf is perfect for weekend trips away, just big enough to cram in all your essentials.  Lastly, no feature on Gulf could be complete without the team jacket.  This black bomber is incredibly retro in style and bang on trend for AW13.
