Most wanted: Pure Obagi Gentle Men Skincare Kit

Seeking out new skincare products can at times seem a bit daunting. There are literally 1,000’s of brands on the market with each offering multiple formulas that boast a range of benefits. But which should you for?

Honestly, trial and error can play a big part in finding what is right for you but fundamental to everything is deciphering what type of skin you have. If you have overly oily or super dry skin, you might want to check in with a dermatologist before opting for some new products failing that, you will want to select products for normal skin.

Recently, I’ve been trialling the Pure Obagi Gentle Men Kit which contains a cleanser, serum and moisturiser. I’m often asked what types of products people should be using daily, and from my own experience, these are 3 things that I’d recommend to everyone.

The Pure Obagi Gentle Men Skit contains:

Nu-Derm Gentle Cleanser 200ml

A good few years ago now, I had a bit of an addiction to harsh exfoliating facial cleansers, as a result, I never felt that my skin was clean unless I had gone in hard with a scrub every day. This was of course not the thing to do and caused me to strip away so much of the goodness and the natural oils daily.

After a consultation with a skincare specialist a couple of years ago, I changed my ways and have been opting for gentle face clears ever since with the use of a scrub only occasionally.

I now use a gentle cleanser twice a day and have been pleased with The Obagi Medical Gentle Cleanser from the kit so far. It’s a very lightly scented facial cleanser that left my skin feeling fresh and clear.

It’s also enriched with aloe vera to help calm and hydrate your skin.

Professional C Serum 10%

This Obagi Medical serum has 10% L-ascorbic acid which helps to protect and perfects the skin while plumping and hydrating to tackle fine lines.

If you don’t normally use serums, they can take a bit of getting used to. The key for me is that less is more. They recommend 5 to 7 drops but personally, I don’t use any more than 4.

Gently massage the serum into your face and neck using your fingertips and allow it to absorb fully before applying moisturiser. I noticed a difference after about a week of using it, my skin looked fresher.

HydraFactor Broad Spectrum SPF 30

If you’re only going to use one skincare product on your face, then it must be a good quality moisturiser with SPF. SPF is often be overlooked, especially by men who don’t think that our climate warrants it, but it does. The harmful UV rays from the sun still find their way through the clouds and can prematurely age your skin.

This light moisturiser has SPF 30 included so it’s one less thing for you to worry about in the mornings.

As well as protecting you from the sun, this light moisturiser works to diminish hyperpigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles while hyaluronic acid binds lightweight moisture, instantly brightening and plumping your skin.

These products are an investment but it’s one worth making. Often when it comes to investing in our bodies we think that it’s hard to justify the cost but in reality, a skincare package to last a whole month costs little more than a few rounds of drinks.

Get on it!
