The runners among you will be well aware of the challenging weather conditions that come with the winter months. One of the biggest hazards of this time of the year though is the lack of light, in particular, the dark mornings and nights. Is it possible to be seen, dry, comfortable and look stylish when treading the pavements? Well for AW13 Nike appear to make this look easy…
As far as sports brands go, Nike does really continue to outperform the competition with their advances in technology and design. Without slating anyone else there are plenty of ‘technical’ specialist brands out there who have great products in theory that looks pretty hideous. Then there is the flip side brands who have a great looking product that is pretty crap technically.
The boffins and designers at Nike have drawn insights from the runners out there who are putting in the miles during the winter months. As a direct result, the Nike Flash Pack has been produced. A collection of functional, good-looking running clothing and footwear created with the winter in mind.
My Footwear highlight from the range is the Free 5.0 Shield. Yes, I do have a soft spot for the Nike Free style, but having worn these for some time now I have found them difficult to match in terms of comfort. Flywire technology is used in the shoe to deliver a dynamic, glove-like fit. As if that’s not enough the Nike Free articulated flex grooves offer barefoot-like flexibility.
Winter is on the way, but that doesn’t mean you have to stay indoors turn to the treadmill. Get the right gear, get outside and ‘Just do it’ safely.
