I heard this news last week and I must say that it excited me quite a lot!
Nike has teamed up with the contemporary creative platform, Basement to release a re-worked version of their iconic Air Max 90 silhouette which celebrates the energy of 3 UK cities.
Glasgow, Manchester and London have been chosen as the inspiration for the 3 news styles with each paying homage to its namesake’s character and environment.
Being a Glasgow native myself I could not wait to see which elements of my cities personality were chosen to go into the design of the Air Max 90.
The Glasgow sneaker (pictured) pays tribute to the cities rebellious, joyous, forward-thinking community, continuously evolving and expectation-defying reputation.
This Air Max 90 has a base of water-resistant, deep grey materials and heavyweight ripstop. My favourite part is the plush leather safety orange tongue and retro-reflective Swoosh and heel tab that has been inspired by the iconic traffic cone placed upon the head of the Duke Of Wellington statue in Glasgow’s city centre. Classic Glasgow!
The Glasgow sneaker dropped on the 5th so you’ll be lucky to still snatch a pair. Fear not though as the Manchester version drops this Friday (the 12th) with London being realised on the 19th.
