Summer at Home Men’s Fashion Staples

Summer 2020 is going to be like nothing that we have known before. We almost certainly won’t get to experience holidays, festivals or packed beer gardens this year but that doesn’t mean that we can’t make the most of it.

We’ve now made it through a few long hard lockdown months but finally, things are easing up, we are now able to hang out with a small group of mates in open spaces and gardens, there’s talk of some pubs opening back up and we’ll (hopefully) soon be able to hug our families once again.

Reaching for the comfy clothes every morning may have cut it of late but it’s now time to shake things up and put a little bit more effort into your style again.

To make things easier we’ve compiled a few essential men’s fashion items that should feature in your summer lockdown wardrobe to ensure you’re ready for that last-minute garden BBQ invite or when the beer gardens in fact re-open.

The great thing as far as us consumers are concerned is that months of lockdown mean that retailers have a lot of stock to get rid of to there should be plenty of bargains out there to be had if you keep your eyes open.

Printed Summer Shirts

One trend that blew up a few years ago shows no signs of going anywhere in 2020 are printed shirts

Printed viscose shirts are a great summer staple for guys as they instantly give off a smarter look and will be a start contrast to the loungewear looks that many of us have become accustomed too of late.

A summer print is a great way of giving off a holiday vibe too whether you’re home or away!

Lightweight Chino Trousers

A pair of lightweight cotton chino’s are in my opinion, the perfect summer trouser. They’re comfy, cool to wear and when the afternoon barbecue undoubtedly transitions into the evening they will keep you a little bit warmer too. There can be no denying either that they are far smarter than a pair of shorts.

Cotton Jogger Style Trouser, Mango Man £19.99 (Was £35.99)

A Quality Cotton T-shirt

A few good quality t-shirts and polos should be the cornerstone of your wardrobe no matter the season but they become more important than ever during the summer months.

Many overlook the importance of t-shirt fit. The one size fits all approach is not a thing. Bearing in mind that most of us have added a little extra weight while we have been at home, you may need to size up for the time being but don’t be afraid of that factor. A slightly looser fitting t-shirt will do you far more favours than something that looks like it has shrunk in the wash!

Essential men’s cotton t-shirt, Reiss £25

The Essential White sneaker

Much like cotton t-shirts, you’ll struggle to find a style staples list where I don’t include a some new white sneakers. I think you would struggle to find a more versatile piece of clothing than these though so if you buy one pair of shoes over the summer, it should be some classic white sneakers.

Men’s Donnie Sneaker, Kurt Geiger £59 (Was £119.99)
