Earlier this week I took some time away from the madness of LC:M and paid a visit to the Sunspel store on Chiltern Street. Sat within a row of beautiful traditional brick buildings is the Sunspel store that stocks both their men’s and ladies collection. I am slightly embarrassed to say that I was only introduced to this brand at the tail-end of last year when I received one of their sweatshirts within an Enclothed box. They actually date all the way back to 1860 – that’s over 150 years of experience in the trade.
Initially Sunspel started as an underwear brand however they have now evolved and offer a range of everyday clothing made, where possibly using traditional methods and some of the finest materials available to man. They have quite a colourful history and a few claims to fame along the way too. Not every clothing brand for example can claim to have dressed James Bond. They first crafted their Riviera Polo Shirt back in 2006 for Daniel Craig in Casino Royale, the style has since become a modern classic and a foundation of their menswear offering.
The thing I love most about the Sunspel summer 2014 menswear collection is the rugged yet masculine style of their products. Available in shades of blues, reds, grey and whites each item in the range has a story. Not some cock and bull story created by advertising men to sell it to you, a story steeped in history and tradition.
