The Desert Boot: A summer must have for men everywhere

Desert boots are a style that are on trend year after year but never look dated.  They are lightweight and comfortable enough to be worn with shorts but at the same time can easily be dressed up with jeans or a slim fit suit for a smarter or evening look.  It may sound slightly cliché but I struggle to think of any other men’s footwear that can be worn by both young lads and the slightly more mature gentleman without looking out-of-place on either.

The desert boot is not a new design by any stretch of the imagination.  It was back in the 1940’s that Nathan Clark (of the Clarks shoe family) began designing the boot.  He took inspiration from African shoe styles of the time that he saw on sale in Cairo where he was stationed during the Second World War.

It wasn’t until the 1960’s that Clarks began selling their Clarks Original Desert Boot in the UK and Europe.  To date they have sold well in excess of 10 million pairs worldwide and have won many famous fans from Steve McQueen to the Oasis brother’s Liam and Noel Gallagher.  Of course, they have evolved over the years in a variety of new colours and materials depending on the current trends but the classic boot remains untouched.

To conclude the desert boot is a great everyday style that does exactly what it says on the tin.  A great investment piece that I can guarantee you will be wearing for years to come.
