The Friday Five: Men’s Grooming Products & Babershops

This week the Friday Five is all about grooming, skincare and manscaping.  No matter what your preference in terms of facial hair, body hair and head hair there should be something included in the rundown that may be a welcome addition to your pre-weekend pruning routine…

Schnauzer Beard Oil

If you have a beard then you should be looking after it.  I’m guessing you shampoo and maybe condition your head hair but what is your care routine like for your beard?  If it is non-existent then it is time that you started to pay a little more attention to that furry face fuzz.

Schanuzer is a new range of 100% organic oils from the UK available in 4 scented options: Frühlingsfest a scent with a hint of lavender and Patchouli is my favourite.  If you prefer there is an unscented option too.

Philips Series 1000 Bodygroom

Keeping on top of your body hair should be on your weekly to-do list.  The new Philips 1000 series bodygroom helps you to comfortably trim unwanted body hair so you’re always prepared for any occasion. This intuitive little device is designed to be gentle to ensure that manscaping won’t go wrong, even on your most delicate body areas.

The Body Therapy Company

A nice little range of skincare products that I recently discovered.  The Body Therapy Company have recently launched their 100% natural range which comprises of beard care, shaving range and an interesting range of sports oils.  I was really impressed with the after sports oil which is designed to relieve the stress in soft muscle tissue following exercise and helps to re-oxygenate muscles and carry away accumulated toxins.  It smells nice too which is always an added bonus!

Jack The Clipper @ Lynx Black Space

The Lynx Black Space is a rather cool little pop-up mancave in the Old Truman Brewery, Shoreditch, London (you will find it right opposite Rough Trade).  Inside you will find a coffee bar, shop, chill area, live performance stage and most impressively barbershop.

Run in conjunction with Jack the Clipper, the barbershop offers cuts, hot towel shaves and all the usual services.  No appointment is required although booking is advised to save you having to wait too long especially at the weekends and peak times.

No7 for Men Advanced Serum

My skincare routine used to consist of a slap of Nivea in the morning and not a lot else.  Recently (and with the onset of ageing) I have started to look at some other products to care for my skin.  No7 for Men has produced a wonder product in my opinion which is based on the best-selling woman’s serum with a few tweaks just for us guys.

The Protect & Perfect advanced serum promises improved skin in just 2 weeks.  Yeah right I thought as I read the packaging.  Now I ain’t going to claim I woke up looking like Macaulay Culkin in his Home Alone days but I did notice a remarkable improvement to my skin especially on my forehead after a few days of using it before bed
