The Friday Five: Things to check out this weekend

Earlybird TasteBox

So last week things went a little bit crazy and Friday came and went without a hint of a Friday Five Flavour.  I’m sorry!  This week I aim to make up for it with a smashing little list of things to see you through the weekend.

Until Monday…

1) Party at the Palace

Travis

Before summer (yes we officially had one) is coming to a very quick end but there is still time to grab a slice of live music action.  This weekend if you happen to be in Scotland then you should get yourself along to the stunning venue that is Linlithgow Palace (easily accessible from the Glasgow to Edinburgh train line) where they have a magically eclectic line-up of music across the weekend.

Party at the Palace is headlined tomorrow by Scottish band Travis (one of my all time favourites) and on Sunday by the pioneers of D.I.S.C.O CHIC featuring Nile Rodgers.  The headliners are joined by the likes of The Feeling, Scouting for Girls and Nina Nesbitt.

2) Earlybird TasteBox

The TasteBox is certainly not the only snack box on the market but it differs slightly from the rest.  They have marketed it as a festival in a box…not quite sure about that claim but it is pretty cool.  Each week the box comes with a free download from an emerging band or DJ, an illustration from an up and coming artist and of course a selection of tasty snacks and teabags. The better news is you can try your first box for only a quid!

3) Windle & Moodie Volcanic Ash Wax

I guess after 30 years experience in the hair business you really get to know what works well and what doesn’t.  I think it is for this reason that the newly launched product range from Windle & Moodie has already scooped various accolades.

My hair is a tad longer these days than this product is really designed for but I used it to add a bit of texture into the top which seemed to work well.  You only need a tiny amount for some pretty decent hold with a nice matte finish.  The product doesn’t smell of much and is nice and light and won’t leave your hair looking clogged up or greasy.

4) Mr Black Denim Refresh

We are constantly told by denim manufacturers not to wash our new jeans for up to six months to ensure they maintain their look, shape and colour.  If you are anything like me (a clean freak) then you will find it impossible to wait that long.  Enter Mr Black Denim Refresh spray.

Mr Black Denim Refresh is an all in one product that cleans and refreshes your denim while preventing the build-up of stains.  The product does not use harsh chemicals and is biodegradable.  Simply spray it onto your jeans and allow it to dry, or alternatively to tackle grimy patches or marks spray the solution onto a cloth and rub on the dirty areas. Easy!
