If you are heading over to the Balearic island party paradise that is Ibiza this summer then you should give our top club night picks a try. During the summer months there is no shortage of places to go or clubs to try with a host of the biggest names in world music all plying their trade.
Here are our top picks for summer 2015 in Ibiza:
Solomon +1
This night at Pacha has been going for a few years now and is consistently popular with the Ibiza crowd. As far as Pacha nights go this is perhaps their most underground night of their weekly calendar and Solomon’s only residency this summer.
Most weeks’ Solomon is joined back-to-back in the main room by a heavyweight guest DJ from the likes of Pete Tong, Audiofly and Sven Vath.
Cream
Cream is absolutely legendary in EDM circles and has had a colourful lifespan going back 25 years and counting. Their summer residency takes place this year once again at Amnesia where they host the Terrace on Thursday nights with Above & Beyond next door in the main room.
The big news this year is that they have scooped Eric Prydz as an exclusive resident in the slot that was held by Calvin Harris over the past few summers. Joining Prydz over the season is the likes of Sasha, Fedde Le Grand, Fatboy Slim and Alesso. This is always a popular night and gets absolutely rammed so try to get there early(ish) to ensure entry to the room you want.
ANTS
Ushuaia completely changed he direction of clubbing in Ibiza a few seasons back when they launched their daytime party that lasts until the sun goes down. The club hosts a weeklong programme of massive name nights but the stand out for me has to be ANTS on Saturdays.
The sound of EDM and trance is merged in the only underground event at the Playa d’en Bossa club with guest appearances from Gorgon City, Maya Jane Coles and Hot Since 82 on this summer’s line-up.
It all kicks off around 4 but things don’t really heat up until almost sunset when the action switches from a smaller DJ booth to the mainstage.
Viva Warriors
Sankeys Ibiza has been going from strength to strength the past few seasons and seems to have come up with a winning formula. The club is not polished, massive or hoaching with the VIP crew like a lot of the others but that is what makes it so good. It is all about the music and having a good time.
It takes place on Sundays in Playa d’en Boss and this year is Viva Warriors fourth season. The every growing cult following that has supported the night over the year’s shows no signs of stopping. Steve Lawler welcomes some of his closest friends to add an extra edge to the night. The line up includes Pete Tong, Derrick Carter and Tiga this summer.
Gitterbox
Defected can do absolutely no wrong in my eyes and while their flagship night Defected in the House (another night well worth checking) takes place at Tuesday in Amnesia, Glitterbox is the much newer kid on the block. This year the night takes place in the Terrazza of the legendary Ibiza super club Space.
The night is all about that funky disco revival sound with a lively good spirited atmosphere. Expect the DJ’s to delve into the history of house and disco and spin some long forgotten anthems. Headliners include Fatboy Slim, Horse Meat Disco, Hercules and Love Affair and Tensnake. All right up my street!
If you find yourself up bright and early
If all that nighttime clubbing doesn’t take its toll on you, Ibiza also hosts a growing number of daytime pool parties, which are worth a visit. Ocean Beach Ibiza is located in San Antonio (just before you hit the bay) and is open daily with an amazing calendar of events. Expect lots of dancers, stunts, water and good music. I have to say their cocktails are right up there with the best I have ever tasted too. A sweet frozen strawberry daiquiri in the glorious sunshine just tastes too good.
This summer there is a new daytime party taking place at the Hard Rock Hotel in Ibiza too which looks right up they’re with the big Vegas events. Disturbing Ibiza is hosted on Tuesdays from 1pm til 7pm by Tinnie Tempah and a few mates. Big splashes galore so you can expect to get pretty wet in the aquatic madness!
