The range of tartans available at MacGregor and MacDuff is pretty HUGE (I think I heard someone say there were over 4000 options at the last count). With that in mind, finding the perfect style for you is no easy task but thankfully the super helpful staff in the store are on hand to make things a little easier. I told them the colours that I liked best and the team were quick to point out some really great tartans that fitted the bill. Amongst the expansive selection of tartan on offer, they have all of the traditional family clan designs, lots of the modern styles and a great range of patterns that they stock exclusively.
Whilst I was in the shop, I decided to also give them a pair of their tartan trews a try. Trews, are a form of traditional Scottish dress and are a nice substitute if you want to wear something that reflects your Scottish heritage to an event but fancy a change from a kilt. These are most commonly produced in the black watch tartan and are worn with a black jacket and white shirt. It’s a really smart look for black tie or evening events but for me, there is no beating the kilt!
If you fancy booking in for a kilt fitting yourself then you better be quick, as the London pop-up is only open until Sunday the 18th of March. You can book a fitting online or just pop into the shop for a look around the collection. You’ll find the shop at 32 Charlotte Road, which is just a few minutes walk from Old Street tube or Shoreditch High Street train station.
