Here’s something a little bit different from me this week. I’ve teamed up with a couple of my good mates (and fellow bloggers), The Middle-Aged Man and The Gentleman Select to bring you our partywear picks of the season from the current Slaters menswear collection.
With the festive season almost upon us, now is the best time for you to get your outfit sorted for the inevitable onslaught of parties, work events and of course the all-important occasions like Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve. I know it might seem a little bit too early yet, but believe me, it’s when you will get the best choice in the shops as the best lines always sell out fast. The shops are much quieter now than they are in December too which makes the whole process a whole lot less stressful!
When it comes to selecting an outfit for the party season the rule of thumb is to always go up a level of dress from what you normally wear. If you normally wear jeans on a night out, go for a trouser or chino and if you are generally someone who wears a tweed jacket or blazers, invest in something a little bit different like a satin or velvet blazer. I tend to go for velvet at this time of the year, it’s a fabric that radiates luxury and (for me at least) it screams festive.
Slaters have plenty of options – no matter what your style is – but I went for the limited edition Harry Brown Space Design blazer and teamed it with a classic white slim-fitting shirt and plain black trousers. The patterned design of the jacket has an almost iridescent effect to it as the light bounces off of it and is a definite statement piece! As it is already quite eye-catching I opted to go without a tie but for a more formal occasion, this would look great teamed with an oversized knitted bowtie too.
Hopefully, that has given you some food for thought and some ideas to help you shape your look for the forthcoming party season. We’d love to see what you decide to go with yourself so share your festive look with us by tagging us on Instagram @theeverydayman.
