Glasgow-based Artisan Spirits has just launched The Stanhope, a new premium whiskey brand that’s making waves with its first two offerings: The Stanhope Kentucky Straight Bourbon and The Stanhope Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey. Born in Scotland and crafted in Owensboro, Kentucky, these small-batch whiskeys epitomize a fusion of heritage, tradition, and top-tier craftsmanship.
The Stanhope Kentucky Straight Bourbon (700ml, 44.8% ABV) is a rich, layered whiskey with bold notes of maple, honey, and dried fruits. With a mash bill consisting of 70% Corn, 21% Rye, and 9% Malt, this bourbon offers complexity and depth, making it a standout choice for bourbon enthusiasts. Priced at £55, it promises a memorable tasting experience.
Meanwhile, The Stanhope Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey (700ml, 45.2% ABV) is crafted with 95% Rye, delivering a unique flavor profile with peppery notes and a luxurious dry finish. This rye, priced at £58, is perfect for those who appreciate premium rye with a sophisticated edge.
Both whiskies were carefully distilled and aged in American White Oak casks, earning Silver medals at the 2024 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, a testament to their exceptional quality.
The Stanhope’s rich family legacy traces back to 1879 when Peter Holmes, a pioneering carriage builder, returned to Glasgow after learning his craft in the USA. Today, his family’s dedication to quality continues through The Stanhope whiskey brand.
