There’s finally a new and Improved Sky Go App

Sky Go app review

You might not be aware but if you have a Sky TV subscription then you also have access to Sky Go, the TV giants and mobile streaming app.

I’ve been using Sky Go for years. It’s a great way to catch up with your favourite Sky shows while you’re on the move or when you’re in a room of the house that doesn’t have a TV – I’m talking iPad viewing from the bath.

Although the app is a great free service for existing Sky customers there were a few sticking points with it and when compared with the offerings from the new age streaming companies it did seem a bit out of date. The good news is that Sky has just completely relaunched and re-worked Sky Go and the new app is fantastic!

Until now if you had Sky Q then you required 2 separate apps. Sky Go for when you were on the move and the Sky Q app to watch shows from your main Sky box in other rooms of your home. Thankfully the app’s have now been streamlined into one much sleeker, user-friendly app.

Unlike with the old Sky Go app where you were only allowed to access the app from a certain number of new devices per month, you can now switch from device to device as often as you please.

With the Sky Go app, you can not only access the Sky TV Guide and watch live TV and top shows like Chernobyl just like you can from your box at home but you can also search an extensive library of on-demand options too.

The best bit (in my opinion), is that you can download programmes onto your smartphone or tablet and then watch them when you have no network coverage or are on a flight.

From the app’s home screen, you’ll find recommendations and (if you’ve linked Sky Go to your Sky Q box) the ability to pick up from where you left off on any TV show that you’ve been watching on Sky.
