Away from the obvious excitement of the headline acts, the thing that I love most about the big summer music festivals is having the opportunity to discover new music and new bands.
Having been on the go for over 10 years now, the Canadian band The Arkells are certainly not a new band but when they took to the King Tut’s stage at TRNSMT festival this July, that was the first time that I’d seen or heard of them. I was instantly hooked on their catchy fun and catchy vibe.
I actually enjoyed the set so much that I took to iPlayer the follow day and re-watched it before saving their music to my Spotify. Yup, I was a new fan.
Their instantly catchy sound is the perfect accompaniment to car journeys and in the past couple of months, I’ve grown to love belting the hits like ‘People’s Champ‘ out as I got about my daily business in the car.
The Arkells album, ‘Rally Cry‘ is available to download on all platforms now.
