Why Hair Transplants Are Becoming Increasingly Popular Amongst Men

In the past, it was very rare to find anyone either in the public eye or in our personal lives who would openly talk about hair loss, let alone undergoing any treatments to combat it. Until recently, most men would deal with hair loss by hiding it from the public eye by wearing things such as hats, even artificial hair to cover their hair thinning or receding hairlines.

However, this stigma around hair loss and hair transplants is changing, since the number of men having hair transplants is increasing. Various factors could be contributors to this significant rise, although these are just some of the main reasons why hair transplants are starting to become increasingly popular amongst men.

Taboo Is Being Lifted

One of the primary reasons why the stigma around hair transplants for men is on the decline is thanks to celebrities openly discussing their experiences with having treatment. With the increasing number of open discussions around the topic, it has been the driving factor in the rise in men opting to look into undergoing a cosmetic procedure.

In the past, the gender stereotypes within society have hindered men to be open around the topic of wanting to look after their appearance. However, it is not all about vanity. Hair has been linked with impacting your self-esteem and offering a better quality of life mentally for someone. Of course, if done for vanity purposes, there are no issues about it.

Advancement In Treatment

During the past few years, there has been a significant advancement in the precision of tools used in transplants. The most common form of transplants used is FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) treatments.

The result of FUE treatments is natural and healthy-looking hair that does not fall out. In addition to this, the hair follicles that are removed are done by a micro-punch tool. This leaves tiny scars that can be one millimetre in diameter, which is practically almost non-existent, so there are no concerns over any obvious scarring post-surgery.

Not As Costly As Imagined

Hair transplants are classed as being cosmetic treatment, which means it is not a service that is available on the NHS. A quick search of ‘how much does a hair transplant cost’ and you can be overwhelmed with the varying prices.

Although it is a relatively expensive procedure, it might not be as expensive as many had initially thought. Most clinics will answer the question ‘how much does a hair transplant cost’ by detailing that the cost will vary depending on the size or difficulty of the procedure. For instance, take an FUE treatment, a simple procedure in which hair is removed from either the side or the back of the head and inserted into the areas where a person is balding. Depending on the size of the area that is being covered, the price will match it accordingly. As such, if the area on your head where you wanted the transplant was small in size, it will be cheaper than those with a larger area to cover.
