With the Kentucky Derby just around the corner, Woodford Reserve is keeping tradition alive with the release of its annual commemorative bourbon bottle. A staple since 1999, the latest edition continues the brand’s fusion of fine whiskey and collectible design, this time showcasing the work of Cuban-born artist Humberto Lahera.
Lahera’s artwork, titled “Carrera Dinamica” (Dynamic Race), captures the explosive energy of the Derby, depicting a horse bursting through a flurry of rose petals. “I wanted to capture the exhilarating motion of the race and the elegance of the horses,” Lahera said, emphasizing how both his Cuban roots and new life in Louisville, Kentucky shaped his vision for this year’s label.
Beyond the packaging, the liquid remains unchanged—the same six-to-seven-year-old bourbon made from 72% corn, 18% rye, and 10% malted barley, bottled at 45% abv. It’s classic Woodford Reserve, but with a fresh new look that makes it a must-have for collectors and race-day enthusiasts alike.
