• Brussels Sprouts: The bitterness of the hops in an IPA complements the strong and earthy flavour of Brussels sprouts. Look for an IPA with citrusy or piney hop aromas, as these can complement the rustic notes of the sprouts. A slightly sweeter IPA, like a West Coast style, can also work well, especially with caramelised sprouts.
• Christmas Pudding: To complement a rich Christmas pudding, you need a beer that can stand up to its complex flavours. Stouts are an excellent choice thanks to their chocolate and coffee notes. Their creamy texture and full body provide a luxurious counterpoint to the pudding’s dense richness.
