Formula One and house music might not be the most obvious pairing, but for anyone who’s been to a Defected day party or follows F1, it actually makes a fair bit of sense.
The two brands are teaming up this week for Driven by Sound, a three-day takeover in Soho bringing DJ sets, parties, a coffee rave, a run club and a load of exclusive Defected merch to 19 D’Arblay Street.
The pop-up runs from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 August, with the Defected Store open to the public and stocked with vinyl, including the sought after Defected Classics series, plus T-shirts and accessories.
There’s also an exclusive collection for anyone who likes their music merch a little harder to get hold of. The limited drop includes a bespoke record box, vinyl collection and T-shirts created specifically for the collaboration.
Friday focuses on FLINTA* communities, with a panel and a DJ mixing masterclass for women and non-binary artists, followed by a party hosted by Defected Radio’s Monki.
Saturday is arguably the one to watch, kicking off with a sober coffee rave from 9am to midday hosted by GRIND and Sam Divine, before a surprise day party from 1pm to 6pm with a special guest DJ.
Sunday keeps things moving with a Defected Run Club warm up from 9am, followed by an afternoon party featuring Defected’s resident DJs.
