In the past few years fitness trackers and bands have become an essential piece of training kit. As well as investing in a decent pair of trainers, it’s equally as important to invest in some tech to monitor and track our progress as we charge towards our goals.
It’s now pretty easy to track our heart rates, steps and running routes using apps and fitness bands but what about some more specific data on the composition of our bodies? The new TomTom Touch quickly measures your body fat and muscle mass percentage directly with the touch of a button. A world-first for a wearable device!
Over the next few weeks, I’m going to be putting the new TomTom Touch to the test to see what impact my training has on the makeup of my body. I’ll be sure to keep you updated with my progress both here and on social media too so make sure that you are following me on twitter @everyday_man.
Knowing your body composition and seeing how it changes over the course of time is a great way to effectively monitor what kind of training works best for you and also how fit you are. For example, keeping track of your weight will, of course, show you if you go up or down overall but this won’t show how much fat you have dropped in favour of muscle. I reckon having this information right on my wrist will be a great motivational tool to drive me forward in my training.
It’s time for me to get to work…
