The Loftfactory Paris Review: One of the Most Unique Places to Stay in Paris

Interior of the LoftFactory Paris

Stepping into Loftfactory feels like discovering a side of Paris most visitors never see.

If you’re looking for a unique place to stay in Paris, this is exactly the sort of property that changes how you experience the city. Set inside a converted industrial building in Quartier Montorgueil, it offers something surprisingly rare in the French capital: genuine space. Whether you’re travelling with friends, family or simply want a base with more character than the average hotel room, it immediately feels different.

It’s tucked into Quartier Montorgueil, which quickly became one of my favourite areas in the city. It’s noticeably calmer than you’d expect for such a central spot, but you’re still only a few minutes from the buzz. Getting there was straightforward too. We travelled in from Charles de Gaulle by train, took a direct line to Les Halles, then walked the final few minutes to the property. If you’d rather not think about logistics, they can also arrange an airport pickup.

Mornings started with a walk past greengrocers setting up for the day and more bakeries than anyone could reasonably justify visiting. We tried anyway. It’s the kind of neighbourhood where you don’t need a plan, you just head out and things fall into place.

More Than Just Another Paris Apartment

Inside, the first thing that hits you is the space. Proper space. Not something you often say about accommodation in Paris. It’s open, bright and quiet in a way that makes you instantly slow down a bit.

The ground floor is one large open plan space, with the kitchen, dining and living areas flowing into one another. We ended up spending most of our time around the kitchen island, whether it was coffee in the morning or a drink before heading out. The skylights bring in loads of natural light during the day, and in the evening we made good use of the projector and sound system. It’s very easy to convince yourself to stay in.

There’s also a double bedroom and a large bathroom on this level, which works particularly well if you’re staying as a group or looking for a spacious place to stay in Paris.

A Space Designed to Slow You Down

Upstairs is where it starts to feel more tucked away. The main bedroom opens onto a private terrace, which was the perfect place to slow down for half an hour after a day exploring the city.

The en suite is worth mentioning purely for the bath: one of those deep Japanese style tubs you don’t rush. And the bed itself deserves a mention. After long days walking across the city, it was the kind of bed you collapse into and don’t move from for a while.

There’s another bedroom up here, a second living space and a proper work area, which came in surprisingly handy. It never felt like we were on top of each other, even with a full house.

The Unexpected Extras

Then there’s the basement, which ended up being one of the biggest surprises. There’s a sauna, gym and shower down there, plus a sofa that converts into another bed.

After walking well over 30,000 steps most days, the sauna was a very good idea. It’s not something you expect to find in central Paris accommodation, but it makes a genuine difference.

Industrial Design With a Story Behind It

In terms of design, it doesn’t feel overly polished or staged. There’s a mix of vintage pieces, lots of bold reds and oranges, set against the original structure of the building. You notice the contrast more than anything, and it works. It feels like a space people actually use, not just somewhere that’s been styled for photos.

There’s also a bit of history behind it. The building dates back to the 1870s, around the Gustave Eiffel period, and was later used as a printing house by the French Resistance. It’s not overplayed, but knowing that adds something to the stay.

One of the nicest touches came right at the start. We arrived to find the fridge stocked with a few essentials, champagne and fresh fruit. Nothing over the top, but exactly what you want after travelling. It set the tone straight away.

The concierge and local contact were genuinely helpful without being overbearing. We got a list of nearby spots to try, which ended up shaping a lot of the trip.

Final Thoughts

Space is probably Loftfactory’s biggest luxury. In a city where hotel rooms and apartments often feel compact, having somewhere you can properly spread out changes the pace of the trip. Whether you’re visiting Paris with friends, travelling as a family or simply want somewhere with more character than a standard hotel, it’s the sort of place you’ll still be talking about long after you’ve checked out.

It’s the sort of place you settle into remarkably quickly. The combination of space, location and thoughtful touches means it never feels like a typical holiday rental. In a city where you’re usually out exploring from morning until night, Loftfactory is one of the few places that genuinely makes you want to come back early.

If you’re planning a trip and want one of the most unique places to stay in Paris, Loftfactory should be at the top of your list!
