Last week I was invited along to the The Louise Blouin Foundation gallery in London for a very exciting unveiling from Montblanc. Already known world-wide for their writing instruments and time pieces, the German based designer is getting serious about leather goods with the introduction of the Meisterstuck Sfumato.
Inside the venue had been transformed into a little world of Montblanc craft, with some of the very artisans who produced the collection on hand to give a demonstration of how each piece is put together. Available in rich brown, flannel and navy blue the new range includes a document case, full briefcase, a large tote, a wallet, coin case, card holder and belts. The standout item for me was most definitely a leather folio which is fast becoming the must have leather accessory for men, capable of storing your ipad, notebook and whatever else you need to carry around with you on a daily basis.
The name for the new collection, Sfumato refers to the artisan process often used by painters like Di Vinci to create a graded tone, this has been used in the new Montblanc collection to furnish the calfskin leather.
On hand was the brands ambassador High Jackman (yes Wolverine was in the building) to help tell the story behind Montblanc and of the new leather range.
If you fancy a closer look at the range for yourself it will be available exclusively at the Montblanc boutique in Harrods from June and elsewhere from July.
