A few months back, Shinola who are one of my favourite brands got in touch and asked me to create a lookbook for their website featuring some of my favourite pieces from their holiday 2016 collection. I jumped at the chance and decided to take their products with me to some of my favourite spots in my home city of Glasgow.
If you are not familiar with Shinola, then you really need to check their website out but hopefully this piece will act as a good introduction for you. The Shinola collection comprises of quality watches, leather goods and lifestyle products – most of which are designed and built at their Detroit HQ in the USA.
Watches may be the core of the brand but for me I love the quality and build of their leather goods so for me the starting point was the Runwell backpack. I packed it full with a few of my essential items from the holiday collection and set off on my merry way around the city.
As a freelancer, I love to find new places where I can work from (all I need is wifi and good quality tea after all) so for the first stop on my walkthrough Glasgow I visited one of my favourite places, Hutcheson’s on Ingram Street. Hutchison’s is located in a rather amazing old white building that used to be a hospital in the Victorian era. Most of the original features have been retained inside which serve as a wonderful backdrop whether your working, have food or just catching up with friends.
Glasgow is not short of parks – in fact, it is known as the dear green place for that very reason – so the next stop on my wander was to Glasgow Green. A great open park that sits just on the edge of the city centre. It’s big enough that you can always find a quiet corner but small enough that you can walk all the way around it without getting too lost.
You can view my Shinola lookbook in its entirety now over on the Shinola Journal.
