Spinning with ‘The Pack’ at Virgin Active

Last week I was asked by Virgin Active to take part in their latest fitness class, ‘The Pack’, a spin based workout which see’s 2 teams compete against each other in a series of challenges.

Virgin Active asked me to lead up the ‘Tech’ team and I was joined by some riders that I already knew (Lucie Loves, Charlie Irons, Fashion Mumblr, Dan Cooper and The Discerning Man) as well as some bloggers that I had met for the first time.  We were up against some serious competition with the Music Team headed by AJ Odudu and the Fitfam Team’s leader Adrienne.

The class itself takes place in a spin studio that looks a little bit more like a nightclub with coloured lights on the ceiling and a HUGE screen on the front wall.  Over the course of the 45-minute class you have a few challenges to take part in as a team as well as trying to achieve the overall furthest average distance.  You can keep track of your team’s progress with an array of stats that appear on the screen.  I though the interactive screen was the best part about ‘The Pack’ as it keeps you motivated through the real-time results from your team.

Each individual bike is fitted with a small computer too which gives you personal information based on your performance including your RPM and the calories burned, so not only can you see how the team is doing, you know how much effort you are giving the class too!

My team never managed to win any of the individual challenges but we did cover the most distance overall, 20.5Km in 40 minutes which I was pretty pleased with! We celebrated our victory with a delicious cashew smoothie made by the guys at Soulmate Food.

If you fancy trying ‘the pack’ click here or visit your local Virgin Active club for more information.

The post has been sponsored by Virgin Active however words and opinions are mine.  I really did enjoy the class and I’m pretty sure everyone else who came along loved it too!
