I was recently sent a tub of LA Whey from LA Muscle to road test. I admit that when selecting a new protein to try month on month I often shop around looking for what is on special offer. As winner of the Men’s Heath 2012 ‘best protein for hard gainers’ award this sounded just like my kind of protein.
LA Whey is low in fat and low carb and with each serving you get a whopping 48 grams of protein. The way it is made means that this is one of if not the purest whey on the market, more of the protein in this actually reaches your muscles due to its high biological value. In simple terms it’s not full of crap!
I have been using the product for little over a week so it is hard to comment on results at this stage but the first thing I have noticed with this product is the lack of bloating. I feel with some other brands that after consuming I felt ready to pop, bloated and could feel the shake settling on my waist. WIth LA Whey the formula seems so much lighter yet still delivers a huge amount of protein as well as BCAA’s and EAA’s with each serving.
I tried the strawberry flavour and despite what it say’s on the official website this is not a great tasting product but it is not horrible either. This does not bother me of course as I am always suspicious of overly nice tasting shakes which are pumped full of sugars and sweeteners and thus going against the grain of the product. LA Whey use only natural ingredients in all their supplements.
LA Muscle being one of the more expensive proteins on the market is not normally top of my shopping list. Is there a reason why it is slightly more expensive? Well on a similar note is there a reason a Ferrari is more expensive than a Skoda? Of course there is. Quality. After all LA Whey is marketed as the ultimate premium protein, sometimes it is worthwhile spending a few quid more!
