4G has been much hyped by the networks for past few months with claims it is 5 times faster than the current 3G network. EE the new network from Orange and Tmobile introduced the service in just 11 cities with plans to expand the network over the next year.
Download speeds which are advertised as being as fast as home broadband means phone users are now able to download a music track in around 4 seconds. Steaming TV shows and music videos will also be possible with no buffering…or it should be anyway!
4G has arrived just after Apple launched the iPhone which it is available on as well as devices from HTC, Samsung, Nokia and Huawei. Until the remaining networks get on board (likely to be spring 2013) 4G is not going to be cheap with the cheapest 1GB data package from EE starting at £41 plus handset costs.
EE have launched 4G in Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Sheffield and Southampton.
